The Nigerian forward played a key role in Genk’s remarkable recovery after Westerlo raced into an early two-goal lead.

Rafiu Durosinmi continued his scoring form for Genk as the Belgian side came from two goals behind to defeat Westerlo 3-2 in their Belgian Pro League encounter on Saturday.
Westerlo made a flying start and established a two-goal advantage inside the opening 11 minutes.
Dylan Ourega opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Genk defender Matte Smets inadvertently turned the ball into his own net four minutes later, leaving the hosts with a mountain to climb.
Durosinmi then provided the response Genk needed before the interval.
The Nigerian striker converted a penalty three minutes before half-time to pull one goal back and give Genk renewed hope.
Bryan Heynen completed the first-half turnaround shortly afterwards, scoring in the 43rd minute to bring Genk level at 2-2 heading into the break.
Durosinmi’s involvement ended in the 66th minute when he was replaced by Aaron Bibout.
The change ultimately proved significant.
Bibout reportedly completed Genk’s comeback with the decisive goal 11 minutes from full-time, sending the hosts ahead after they had initially fallen two goals behind.
The result, once confirmed by an official or authoritative match source, would represent another notable contribution from Durosinmi following his recent move to Genk.
Durosinmi’s growing role at Genk
The 23-year-old Nigerian striker joined Genk from Italian side Pisa in July 2026 in a reported €10.5 million transfer. Genk confirmed his arrival on its official website, while Belgian media reported that the deal could rise by a further €500,000 depending on performance-related conditions.
Durosinmi’s arrival has attracted particular attention in Belgium because of Genk’s history with Nigerian forwards, including Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare.
The Lagos-born striker signed a four-year contract with Genk and has been handed the No. 17 shirt.
