Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi could be on his way out of Besiktas after just one season at the Turkish club, with reports indicating that a summer departure is increasingly likely.

Ndidi joined Besiktas from Leicester City in a deal worth around €8 million last summer, arriving with high expectations as part of the club’s ambition to challenge for the Turkish Süper Lig title. He was widely seen as a key midfield addition capable of strengthening their core.

However, the season did not unfold as planned. While Ndidi remained a steady presence in midfield, Besiktas struggled for consistency and ultimately finished fourth in the league, 17 points behind champions Galatasaray — a gap that fell short of their title ambitions.

Following the disappointing campaign, the club has undergone managerial changes, with a new coaching structure now in place. Reports suggest that the incoming technical team may not see Ndidi as a central part of their tactical rebuild, opening the door for a possible exit. The club is also believed to be exploring the signing of a new defensive midfielder this summer.

Saudi Pro League Emerging as Likely Destination

According to multiple reports, Ndidi’s departure this summer is becoming increasingly probable, with the Saudi Pro League currently viewed as the most realistic destination.

The 29-year-old midfielder still has two years remaining on his contract, but there has reportedly been no concrete interest from top European clubs at this stage of the transfer window.

Ndidi was previously linked with a move to Manchester United during his Leicester City days, but that interest has since cooled significantly. With United’s midfield options evolving in recent transfer windows, a move to Old Trafford now appears unlikely.

As he approaches his 30th birthday in December, discussions around the next phase of his career are expected to intensify. A move to Saudi Arabia could offer a financially attractive option at this stage, with several clubs in the region continuing to invest heavily in experienced international players.

If Besiktas receive a suitable transfer offer, a deal could be concluded before the end of the summer window, which still has several weeks remaining. For now, Ndidi’s future remains open, but all signs point toward a potential departure from Istanbul.
