Nigeria’s dominant victory over Egypt comes with a major financial reward as the Super Falcons prepare for a crucial quarter-final against Cameroon.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have received a $60,000 performance bonus after their commanding 6-2 victory over Egypt in their final Group C match at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The financial reward comes under a special incentive programme introduced by the National Sports Commission (NSC) ahead of the tournament to encourage the team’s pursuit of another continental title.
NSC Doubles Goal Reward
Before the competition began, the NSC announced that the Super Falcons would receive $5,000 for every goal scored during the tournament, starting from their opening group-stage fixture.
However, following Nigeria’s impressive attacking display against Egypt, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau revealed that the commission had increased the incentive to $10,000 per goal.
The revised reward means the six goals scored against Egypt earned the nine-time African champions a total of $60,000.
The move is seen as part of renewed efforts to reward excellence and motivate Nigerian athletes competing on the international stage.
