Forest continue preparations for the new season with an impressive pre-season victory.

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi was among the goalscorers as Nottingham Forest recorded a convincing 3-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers in their latest pre-season friendly in Portugal.

The Premier League side continued their encouraging preparations for the new campaign by securing a second consecutive win during their Algarve training camp.

Forest took the lead before the interval through Igor Jesus, who finished emphatically by firing into the roof of the net to give his side a deserved advantage at halftime.

Shortly after the restart, new signing Arnaud Kalimuendo doubled Forest’s lead, finding the back of the net just three minutes into the second half to put the Premier League club firmly in control.

Awoniyi then completed the scoring, calmly placing his effort into the bottom corner to seal another impressive pre-season victory for Forest.

Speaking after the match, head coach Oliver Glasner praised his players for their display, describing the fixture as another valuable test ahead of the new season.

Glasner expressed satisfaction with both the team’s work rate and attacking play, noting that the players created several scoring opportunities while also maintaining a clean sheet.

He added that although there are still areas to improve before the start of the campaign, victories like this help build confidence within the squad.

Forest will continue their preparations in Portugal with another behind-closed-doors friendly against VitĂłria SC, before facing Sporting CP later this month as they step up preparations for the new Premier League season.
