The Super Eagles will begin preparations for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign on Tuesday when the Nigerian squad holds its first training session in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom.
Nigeria are preparing for their opening Group L qualifier against Madagascar, with the two teams scheduled to meet at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, September 25.
The Super Eagles’ training camp is based in Ikot Ekpene, where head coach Eric Chelle will begin putting his players through their preparations for the first competitive assignment of the new qualifying campaign.
Super Eagles training session opens to media
The opening 15 minutes of Tuesday’s training session will be available to members of the media.
Reporters will have an opportunity to observe the beginning of the workout before the remainder of the session continues behind closed doors.
The squad is also scheduled to hold a media session on Wednesday, with players expected to speak to journalists and participate in interviews at the team’s base.
Nigeria face Madagascar in Uyo
The Super Eagles’ first assignment will come against Madagascar on Friday, September 25.
The match will be played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, where Nigeria will be looking to begin their qualification campaign with a positive result.
The encounter will be Nigeria’s first competitive fixture in the race for a place at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Guinea-Bissau awaits next
After the Madagascar fixture, Nigeria will immediately turn their attention to their second qualifying match.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to travel to Bissau to face Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, September 29.
The two matches will give Nigeria an early opportunity to collect points in Group L as they begin their bid to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
