The Nigerian international is back with the Chilli Boys as preparations begin for the new season.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has completed a return to South African side Chippa United, rejoining the club ahead of the 2026/27 season after spending about five months away.
The 30-year-old shot-stopper had been without competitive club football since leaving the Chilli Boys in February 2026, a spell that also impacted his standing with Nigeria’s senior national team.
Chippa United confirmed Nwabali’s return on Sunday through the club’s official social media platforms, expressing their delight at welcoming the experienced goalkeeper back to the Eastern Cape.
“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome @nwabali32 back to the Chilli Boys,” the club announced before adding that the Nigerian international had returned after taking time away from the game.
Nwabali first joined Chippa United in 2022 and established himself as one of Nigeria’s leading goalkeepers following his impressive displays at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles finished runners-up in CĂ´te d’Ivoire.

However, his prolonged absence from club football in recent months limited his opportunities for regular action and contributed to him falling out of Nigeria’s national team selection.
Now back with Chippa United, Stanley Nwabali will be hoping to secure regular first-team football at Chippa United ahead of the 2026/27 season as he works towards reclaiming his place in the Super Eagles squad for upcoming international fixtures.
