Victor Osimhen scored before being forced off as Galatasaray defeated İstanbul Başakşehir 3-2 in the Turkish Super Lig.
Galatasaray have confirmed that Victor Osimhen suffered a groin injury during their 3-2 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir on Friday night.
The Nigerian striker started the match and opened the scoring for the Turkish champions in the 16th minute.
However, Osimhen was unable to continue after experiencing discomfort and was substituted in the 33rd minute, with Barış Alper Yılmaz coming on in his place.
Galatasaray later confirmed that medical examinations had detected strain and pain in the right adductor muscle group, with treatment already underway.
The club added that Osimhen would undergo further medical examinations, including an MRI scan, to determine the extent of the injury.
There is currently no official indication of how long the 27-year-old striker could be out of action.

Osimhen had made an immediate impact before his injury, putting Galatasaray ahead with his sixth goal of the season.
The Super Eagles forward finished a move involving Lucas Torreira to give the visitors the lead before being forced out of the contest less than 20 minutes later.
Galatasaray eventually secured the three points despite Osimhen’s early departure.
Lucas Torreira equalised for the visitors in the second half after İstanbul Başakşehir had drawn level through Eldor Shomurodov from the penalty spot.
Davinson Sánchez’s own goal later restored parity before Gabriel Sara scored in stoppage time to give Galatasaray a dramatic 3-2 victory.

The club’s latest statement means the full extent of Osimhen’s injury is still being assessed.
Galatasaray have not announced a recovery timetable for the Nigerian forward, meaning it would be premature to say how many matches he could miss.
His condition will nevertheless be closely monitored, particularly with Galatasaray preparing for their UEFA Champions League campaign.
The Turkish champions are due to face Sporting CP in their opening Champions League fixture, making Osimhen’s fitness an important issue for manager Okan Buruk.
