Nigerian midfielder Jerry Omeke has credited his impressive goalscoring form in Lithuania to his return to his preferred central midfield position after previously being deployed on the wing.

Omeke has been one of the standout performers for FK Akmene in the 2026 Lithuanian II Lyga season, contributing seven goals and two assists in his first 10 matches as he continues to play a key role in the club’s promotion push.

The former FK Ekranas player spent much of his earlier spell in Lithuania operating as a right winger, but this season he has been handed greater freedom in a central midfield role and has responded with a series of influential displays.

The Nigerian says the tactical switch has allowed him to showcase the qualities that made him one of the most promising players during his youth career.

“I am happy at the free role given to me by the club,” Omeke told HotSportsSCOOPS.com.

“This has always been my favourite role and where I played throughout my youth. I am enjoying my football and expressing myself more on the pitch.”

His impact has been reflected in the numbers, with seven goals and two assists in 10 league appearances, underlining his growing influence in the Lithuanian second-tier campaign.

Despite his impressive personal statistics, Omeke remains focused on the team’s objectives.

“I am sure that I will score more goals and do my best to win promotion for my club,” he added.

The midfielder’s performances have attracted attention in Lithuania, where he continues to establish himself as one of the key players for FK Akmene this season.

With the campaign still having a long way to go, Omeke will be hoping his goals and creativity can help propel the club towards promotion while further enhancing his reputation in European football.
