Samuel Chukwueze showed his attacking quality as the Italian giants responded after falling two goals behind.
Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze played a key role as AC Milan fought back from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Scottish champions Celtic in a pre-season friendly encounter.
The Nigerian forward started the match on the bench but was introduced at the beginning of the second half, immediately adding more energy and creativity to Milan’s attack.
Celtic had taken control of the game in the opening period, capitalising on defensive mistakes from the Italian side to establish a comfortable advantage.
The Scottish champions opened the scoring in the 12th minute after a misplaced pass from Milan defender Strahinja Pavlović allowed Camilo Duran to take possession before calmly finishing from close range.
Celtic doubled their lead in the 28th minute when another Milan error presented an opportunity. A poor back-pass from Samuele Ricci was intercepted by Duran, who provided the assist for James Forrest to score and make it 2-0.
However, Milan returned from the interval with a completely different approach after new manager Ruben Amorim made several substitutions, including the introduction of Chukwueze.
The changes quickly produced results, with young striker Francesco Camarda winning a penalty shortly after the restart. The teenager stepped up confidently to convert in the 47th minute and reduce Celtic’s advantage.
Chukwueze continued to trouble the Celtic defence with his pace and direct running from the wing. The Nigerian nearly created another goal when his delivery found Camarda, but the youngster headed wide.
The equaliser eventually arrived in the 52nd minute, with Chukwueze at the centre of the action.
The former Villarreal winger beat his marker on the right flank before producing an excellent cross with the outside of his left foot. Camarda reacted quickly and powered the ball into the net to complete Milan’s comeback and secure a 2-2 draw.
The performance was another positive sign for Chukwueze as he continues preparations with AC Milan ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Nigerian international will be hoping to build on his impressive display and play a bigger role for the Rossoneri during the upcoming campaign.
