Turkish club accuses the Saudi Pro League side of contacting the Super Eagles striker without permission.

Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor have reportedly lodged a complaint with FIFA against Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli over their pursuit of Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu.

According to reports, Trabzonspor allege that Al Ahli made direct contact with Onuachu regarding a possible transfer without first obtaining the club’s permission, despite the Nigerian forward remaining under contract.

Under FIFA’s transfer regulations, clubs are generally prohibited from negotiating directly with a player who is under contract with another club unless specific conditions are met or permission has been granted by the player’s current club.

Onuachu enjoyed a sensational campaign with Trabzonspor last season, establishing himself as one of the most prolific forwards in Turkish football. The Nigerian international scored 26 goals and provided two assists in 26 appearances across all competitions, helping the Black Sea Storm secure a top-three league finish and lift the Turkish Cup. His outstanding performances also earned him the league’s top scorer award.

His impressive form has attracted interest from several clubs during the summer transfer window, with Al Ahli widely reported to be among the strongest contenders for his signature. Reports suggest the Saudi Arabian club are prepared to significantly improve the striker’s current salary package should a transfer be agreed.

Despite their willingness to consider offers, Trabzonspor are reportedly insisting on a transfer fee of between €10 million and €15 million before sanctioning any move for the 32-year-old striker. Reports also indicate that the Turkish club expect Onuachu to formally express his desire to leave before negotiations can progress further.

If FIFA determines that transfer regulations were breached, Al Ahli could face disciplinary measures. However, as of now, FIFA has not publicly announced any decision regarding the reported complaint.

With the summer transfer window still open, Paul Onuachu’s future is expected to remain one of the most closely watched transfer stories involving a Nigerian player, as clubs continue to monitor the Super Eagles striker following his outstanding season in Turkey.
