Trabzonspor are reportedly holding out for €30 million as the Premier League club steps up its pursuit of the Super Eagles centre-back.

Premier League side Fulham have reportedly increased their offer for Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu as they continue negotiations with Turkish club Trabzonspor over a potential summer transfer.

According to Turkish outlet Taka61, Fulham have returned with an improved bid worth €25 million after their initial €20 million offer was rejected by Trabzonspor.

The Turkish Cup winners are reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of €30 million before agreeing to part with the highly-rated centre-back.

Nwaiwu has emerged as one of the most sought-after Nigerian defenders following an impressive debut campaign in Turkish football after joining Trabzonspor from Austrian Bundesliga side Wolfsberger AC during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old quickly established himself as a key member of the squad, scoring three goals and providing one assist in 16 Turkish Super Lig appearances. He also played an important role as Trabzonspor lifted the Turkish Cup, capping an outstanding first half-season at the club.

The former Enyimba defender’s performances have attracted interest beyond Fulham, with fellow Premier League club West Ham United also reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the new season.

Fulham’s latest offer demonstrates the club’s determination to strengthen its defensive options before the start of the 2026/27 campaign, but Trabzonspor appear prepared to negotiate only if their valuation is met.

Should the deal materialise, Nwaiwu would become one of the latest Nigerian players to make the move to the English Premier League, marking another significant milestone in his rapidly progressing career.

With the summer transfer window gathering momentum, attention will now turn to whether Fulham are willing to meet Trabzonspor’s asking price or continue negotiations in pursuit of one of Nigeria’s brightest young defensive talents.
