Inter Lagos confirm topflight status after a standout campaign in the Nigeria National League.

Inter Lagos FC have clinched historic promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) — marking a milestone achievement for the Lagosbased club and its supporters.
The club confirmed its elevation to Nigeria’s top football division after a 11 draw with Smart City FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan on Monday. The result was enough to secure top spot in Conference A of the Nigeria National League (NNL) with 29 points from 15 matches, ensuring their place in the NPFL for the first time in the club’s history.
Inter Lagos, only founded in 2023, have rapidly climbed the football ladder in Nigeria thanks to consistent performances throughout the season — a feat that reflects careful planning, strong squad cohesion, and dedicated fan support.
Their promotion also means that Lagos could soon have two representatives in the NPFL, with Ikorodu City FC already competing in the top flight at the same venue.
Chairman Lanre Vigo described the achievement as “a dream come true,” recalling the club’s humble beginnings and emphasizing the commitment to “bring good football, enjoy the journey, and make sure we survive” in Nigeria’s top flight.
As one of the standout teams in NNL Conference A, Inter Lagos have shown resilience and tactical discipline, and their success now opens the door to increased exposure, higher competition, and the challenge of surviving and thriving in the NPFL.
The promotion also sets the stage for the Super 4 playoff — a mini tournament for the four promoted teams to determine the NNL overall champion once the regular season concludes.
For Nigerian football, Inter Lagos’ rise represents the growing competitiveness of the domestic league structure — proving that even relatively new clubs can achieve topflight status with the right vision and execution.
