Nigeria’s track queen Tobi Amusan has continued her impressive 2026 campaign after winning the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League.

The Nigerian world record holder produced another outstanding performance at the Stade Sébastien Charléty, clocking 12.28 seconds to claim victory and match her season-best mark.

Amusan finished ahead of American duo Grace Stark and Alaysha Johnson, who placed second and third respectively with times of 12.38 seconds and 12.39 seconds.

The victory further confirms the Nigerian hurdler’s return to top form as she prepares for major upcoming competitions, including the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Tobi Amusan Shows Class In Paris Diamond League Win

The race was held in challenging conditions, with temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius, but Amusan remained composed despite the difficult environment.

The Ogun State-born athlete was fourth at the halfway stage of the race before increasing her pace from the seventh hurdle onward. Her powerful finish created separation from the rest of the field as she crossed the line comfortably ahead of her rivals.

The 2022 world record holder continues to show remarkable consistency, having now recorded the same 12.28-second time three times this season, including performances at the Xiamen and Rabat Diamond League events.

Nigeria’s Athletics Star Leads The Way

Amusan’s Paris Diamond League triumph followed her earlier 2026 Diamond League victory in Rabat, where she also clocked 12.28 seconds to claim the women’s 100m hurdles title. She has also secured gold at the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra, Ghana, adding to an already impressive season.

Following the race, Amusan admitted that competing in hot conditions was not ideal but praised her ability to stay focused and deliver a strong performance.

Her latest win strengthens her position among the favourites heading into the Diamond League Final, where she will aim to continue challenging the world’s best hurdlers.

The Nigerian sprint star will now turn her attention to the Prefontaine Classic before the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where she is expected to be one of the leading contenders.

With her consistency, experience and speed, Tobi Amusan continues to prove why she remains one of Nigeria’s greatest athletes on the global stage.
