Club Brugge and Frankfurt have reportedly agreed a transfer fee, leaving just the final contract details to be completed.
Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika is on the brink of joining Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt after the German club reportedly reached an agreement with Belgian champions Club Brugge over his transfer.
According to Belgian publication Het Laatste Nieuws, the two clubs have agreed on a transfer fee believed to be in the region of €10 million, paving the way for the Nigerian international to make the move to Germany.
The remaining stage of the transfer involves finalising Onyedika’s personal contract with Frankfurt. Once those discussions are successfully concluded, the 25-year-old is expected to undergo a medical before officially signing for the Bundesliga side.
Frankfurt have intensified their interest in the Super Eagles midfielder in recent weeks as they look to reinforce their midfield ahead of the new campaign. The club views Onyedika as an important addition because of his energy, defensive awareness and ability to dictate play from central midfield.
If the move is completed, it will mark the end of a successful spell in Belgium for the former FC Midtjylland midfielder, who has spent the last four seasons with Club Brugge and established himself as one of the Nigerian players excelling in European football.
The timing of the proposed transfer also raises questions over whether Onyedika will feature for Club Brugge in Friday’s Belgian Super Cup clash against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, with his future expected to be resolved soon.
During his time at Club Brugge, Onyedika has made 183 competitive appearances, scoring nine goals and providing six assists, while playing a key role in the club’s domestic campaigns.
For Nigerian football fans, the potential move represents another significant milestone, as the Super Eagles midfielder prepares for what could be his biggest challenge yet in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
