Former Super Eagles striker begins a new chapter as Bursaspor strengthen their squad for the 2026/27 Turkish second-tier campaign.

Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has officially completed a move to Turkish second-tier side Bursaspor, bringing his time with Scottish champions Celtic to an end ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Bursaspor confirmed the arrival of the 29-year-old on Friday, unveiling the former Super Eagles forward through an AI-generated video posted on the club’s official X account to welcome him to his new team.
The Turkish club secured promotion to the country’s second division after winning the third-tier title last season and have continued to strengthen their squad as they prepare for the new campaign.
Iheanacho joins Bursaspor as a free agent following his departure from Celtic, where he contributed to the club’s Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup triumph. During his spell in Glasgow, the Nigerian attacker scored nine goals across all competitions while helping the Hoops secure another domestic double.
The former Leicester City forward arrived at Celtic after the close of the 2025 summer transfer window, following an unproductive spell with Spanish club Sevilla.
Although reports indicated Celtic were open to keeping him for another season, Iheanacho has chosen a new challenge in Turkish football as he seeks more consistent first-team opportunities.
The transfer represents the latest step in a career that has seen several moves in recent seasons. Within the past two years, the Nigerian international has played for Sevilla, Middlesbrough on loan, Celtic and now Bursaspor as he looks to rediscover his best form.
With Bursaspor aiming to secure promotion to the Turkish Super Lig, Iheanacho is expected to play a leading role in the club’s attacking plans. The former Manchester City academy graduate will be hoping his experience and goals can help guide the newly promoted side back to Turkey’s top flight.
