The Nigerian forward was directly involved in all three goals as Ferencváros opened their Europa League campaign with a memorable away victory.
Bamidele Yusuf produced a superb individual performance as Ferencváros defeated Celtic 3-1 at Celtic Park in their opening UEFA Europa League league-phase match.
The Nigerian forward scored one goal and provided two assists as the Hungarian side secured an impressive victory in Glasgow on Thursday night.
Yusuf opened the scoring in the 20th minute when his effort from inside the box took a deflection off Celtic defender Liam Scales before finding the bottom corner.
Celtic responded shortly before half-time, with Mika Baur finishing a move created by Kieran Tierney to bring the Scottish side level.
However, Ferencváros quickly regained control. Yusuf turned provider in stoppage time, setting up Kristoffer Zachariassen, who restored the visitors’ advantage with a clever finish.
The Nigerian was involved again immediately after the restart. Just two minutes into the second half, Yusuf supplied Daniel Arzani, who produced an excellent finish to put Ferencváros 3-1 ahead.
That completed a remarkable contribution from Yusuf, who was directly involved in every goal scored by the Hungarian club.
Yusuf continues impressive European form
The performance against Celtic adds to what has been a productive start to the season for the 25-year-old.
Yusuf had already found the net during Ferencváros’ Europa League qualifying campaign before Thursday’s trip to Scotland. He had also contributed goals and assists in domestic football in Hungary.
His display at Celtic Park now gives him another major European performance to add to his growing record with Ferencváros.
The Nigerian joined the Hungarian club from Serbian side Vojvodina in 2025 and has continued to develop his reputation since moving to Budapest.
Ferencváros make strong Europa League start
The victory gives Ferencváros an ideal beginning to the 2026/27 Europa League league phase.
Celtic enjoyed periods of possession and created opportunities, but Ferencváros were more effective in front of goal and punished the home side at important moments.
For Yusuf, the night was particularly memorable. His goal and two assists made him the decisive figure in a 3-1 victory over one of Europe’s better-known clubs.
The Nigerian forward will now look to maintain his form as Ferencváros continue their European campaign.
