Nigerian striker opens his Ajax account with late strike in impressive pre-season victory over FC Volendam.

Tolu Arokodare made an impressive first appearance for Ajax after finding the back of the net in the Dutch club’s 3-1 pre-season victory over FC Volendam.

The Nigerian international came off the bench during the second half and quickly made his presence felt, capping an encouraging debut with a late goal as Ajax continued preparations for the upcoming campaign.

Introduced in the 71st minute, Arokodare joined the action after Ajax had already established control of the contest through goals from Anton Gaaei and Marcos Leonardo.

The Super Eagles striker wrapped up the scoring in the closing stages of the game. He reacted quickest inside the penalty area after a dangerous delivery from Gaaei created uncertainty in the Volendam defence, before calmly finishing past the goalkeeper.

The goal provided an ideal start to Arokodare’s Ajax career and will boost his confidence as he looks to establish himself in the club’s attacking setup.

The 25-year-old recently completed a season-long loan move to Ajax and will be aiming to impress throughout the campaign as he competes for regular playing time.

His debut goal also offers encouragement for Nigerian football fans, who will be hoping the striker can carry his form into both domestic and international competitions in the months ahead.

Ajax will continue using their remaining pre-season fixtures to fine-tune preparations before the start of the new season, with Arokodare expected to play an increasingly important role if he maintains his early momentum.
