Nigeria now has 22 players in camp with three more expected before the tournament begins.
Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) have received another boost with 22 invited players now in the Super Falcons’ training camp in Casablanca, Morocco.
The latest arrival is Michelle Alozie, who linked up with the squad on Monday night as head coach Justine Madugu continues to fine-tune his team ahead of the continental championship.
With Alozie’s arrival, the Super Falcons camp is nearing full capacity as preparations intensify for Nigeria’s quest to successfully defend the WAFCON title and secure a record-extending 11th continental crown.
Among the players already in camp are captain Rasheedat Ajibade, first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Asisat Oshoala, Jennifer Echegini, Toni Payne, Francisca Ordega, Christy Ucheibe, Esther Okoronkwo, Uchenna Kanu, Halimatu Ayinde, Michelle Alozie, Joy Omewa, Osinachi Ohale, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Glory Ogbonna, Oluwatosin Demehin, Rofiat Imuran, Shukurat Oladipo, Comfort Erhabor, Sikiratu Isah, Fatima Oloko and Rinsola Babajide.
The coaching crew is still expecting the arrival of Deborah Abiodun, Gift Monday and Folasade Ijamilusi, who are scheduled to join the squad on Tuesday.
Their arrival will complete the 25-player squad as Nigeria continues tactical drills and fitness sessions ahead of the start of the tournament.
The Super Falcons travel to Morocco as the defending African champions and the most successful team in the history of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, having lifted the trophy 10 times.
Coach Madugu’s side will be aiming to retain their continental title and add an 11th WAFCON trophy to Nigeria’s impressive record.
