Scottish giants Celtic appear to be spinning a Nigerian roulette in their attacking department this summer.
First, the club chose not to make permanent the loan of Adam Idah, the Irish international of Nigerian descent, who impressed during his short stint at Parkhead. His departure left fans divided, with many believing he had done enough to earn a longer stay.
But instead of looking elsewhere in Europe, Celtic seem to have doubled down on Nigeria-linked firepower. The Hoops have now completed the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho, the former Manchester City and Leicester City forward, in a move that has already set tongues wagging.
Not stopping there, reports indicate Celtic are also targeting Emmanuel Dennis, another Nigerian striker known for his explosive pace and versatility. If the deal goes through, Brendan Rodgers could be building an attack heavily laced with Nigerian DNA.
For a club with ambitions of dominating Scotland and making a stronger impact in Europe, the Nigerian shuffle up front could prove to be either a masterstroke—or another gamble in the transfer market.
One thing is certain: Celtic fans will be keeping a close eye on how this Nigerian roulette plays out.
