Real Sociedad appear ready to let Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq move on, with growing interest from Qatari clubs offering the Basque club a way to recoup value on a player who has struggled to cement his place in the lineup.

Sadiq joined Sociedad in 2022 from Almería for a reported €20 million, but his time in San Sebastián has been mixed, hampered by injuries and inconsistent form. After being loaned to Valencia in the winter window, he got more minutes and rediscovered a bit of his scoring touch, recording six goals in 16 to 17 appearances.

Now, with speculation heating up, multiple sources say a Qatari club is preparing a €30 million-plus offer for Sadiq. This figure represents significant upside for Sociedad, given that Valencia’s purchase option is reportedly about €9 to €10 million.

Real Sociedad seem ready to entertain moves outside Spain, especially as the 2025 summer transfer windows in Qatar and other Gulf leagues remain open while LaLiga’s major windows have already closed.

Sadiq’s situation is complicated by his relationship with the club and the coach. He was left out of Real Sociedad’s pre-season tour in Japan and excluded from certain matchday squads, suggesting he is not part of manager Sergio Francisco’s immediate plans.

Sources within the club suggest that if the right offer comes, especially from overseas, Sociedad will listen. For Sadiq, a move to Qatar could provide both financial reward and regular playing time, helping him rebuild his confidence and form while also keeping him in view for international duty with Nigeria.

As time runs down on the summer transfer windows in Qatar and other leagues that remain open, the next few days will likely be crucial. Sociedad must decide whether to hold onto Sadiq, who still has two years left on his contract, or cash in now while interest and demand remain high.
