Nigerian forward nets third goal of the season

Nigerian forward Joy Omewa continued her impressive start to life in English football, scoring the decisive goal as Nottingham Forest Women secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Durham Women FC in the Women’s Super League 2.
The 23-year-old striker opened the scoring early in the contest at the City Ground, setting Forest on their way to back-to-back wins in the league.
Omewa wasted no time making her mark, finding the net in the 14th minute after reacting quickest inside the box to convert from close range.
Her early goal gave Forest control of the game, and they doubled their advantage shortly after through Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, putting the hosts firmly in command before halftime.
Durham responded before the break to reduce the deficit, but Forest held on under pressure in the second half to claim all three points.
Omewa’s Red-Hot Form Continues
The strike marked Omewa’s third goal of the 2025/26 season, underlining her growing importance to the team since joining from Danish side Fortuna Hjørring earlier this year.
She has now scored in consecutive home matches, having also found the net in Forest’s previous victory over Ipswich Town.
Known for her physical presence, sharp movement, and clinical finishing, the Nigerian striker is quickly establishing herself as one of the standout performers in the league.
Key Role in Forest’s Campaign
Omewa’s impact has been immediate, providing Forest with a reliable attacking outlet as they push for a stronger league finish.
Her ability to deliver in crucial moments was once again evident, with her early goal ultimately proving the difference in a tightly contested encounter.
Forest’s back-to-back victories signal growing momentum, with the team continuing to build consistency in the Women’s Super League 2 campaign.
Omewa’s performances further highlight the rising influence of Nigerian players in women’s football across Europe. Having previously scored 52 goals in 85 league appearances in Denmark and won Player of the Season honors, she arrived in England with a strong reputation—and is already living up to expectations.
Her rapid adaptation to English football will be a major boost for both club and country as she continues her development on the international stage.
