Italian Serie A newcomers close deal as Nigerian forward prepares for a fresh challenge in Italy.

Italian Serie A side Venezia have reached an agreement with Spanish club Sevilla for the transfer of Super Eagles striker Akor Adams, bringing the Nigerian forward a step closer to a move to Italy.
The newly promoted Serie A club had been monitoring Adams throughout the summer transfer window and have now secured an agreement after weeks of negotiations with the former UEFA Europa League champions.
Venezia initially tabled an offer worth €10 million for the 26-year-old Nigerian striker, but Sevilla turned down the proposal, holding out for a significantly higher fee. Despite the initial setback, the Italian club remained determined to complete the signing and successfully agreed personal terms with the player while discussions between both clubs continued.

With Sevilla looking to generate funds during the transfer window, optimism grew that a compromise would eventually be reached.
That optimism intensified on Thursday when Venezia sporting director Filippo Antonelli travelled to Andalusia to hold face-to-face talks with Sevilla officials. The meeting proved decisive, paving the way for the clubs to finalise the transfer.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano later confirmed that Venezia and Sevilla had agreed a deal worth €16 million (approximately ₦25 billion), clearing the way for the Super Eagles forward to continue his career in the Italian top flight.
The move represents another significant step in Akor Adams’ European journey. Since leaving Nigeria, the powerful striker has featured in Norway, France and Spain, with Italy now set to become the fourth European country where he has played professional football since 2021.

The Akor Adams Venezia transfer also presents a different kind of challenge. Venezia secured promotion back to Serie A and are expected to battle for survival against some of Italy’s biggest clubs during the 2026/27 season.
As one of the club’s attacking reinforcements, the Nigerian striker joining Venezia in Serie A will be expected to provide goals in a team likely to spend much of the campaign competing against stronger opponents.
Known for his strength, movement and work rate, Adams possesses attributes that could suit the demands of Italian football. However, adapting to the tactical discipline and defensive intensity of Serie A will be another important test in the Super Eagles striker’s career.
If the transfer is completed as expected, Nigerian football fans will be watching closely to see whether Akor Adams can make an immediate impact and establish himself as one of the latest Nigerian players in Serie A.
