The Super Eagles goalkeeper demands respect after social media personality Lege Miami drags his family into national team criticism.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has reacted angrily to social media personality Lege Miami (Kehinde Adams) following a scathing video in which Lege criticized several Nigerian national team players after Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The spark that ignited the feud? Lege Miami not only slammed on-pitch performances but also referenced Nwabali’s late father; a deeply personal attack that provoked an emotional response.

Nwabali’s Response: Respect the Dead

Nwabali took to his Instagram Story to address the issue directly: “Lege Miami, remove my late dad’s name from your mouth if you’re doing your content. … I’m not your regular type of footballer. I go beat you mercilessly.”

He insisted Lege was free to criticize his performance. But drawing in his deceased father was a line that must not be crossed.

Lege Miami Fires Back

Lege Miami responded publicly, offering what he called a “conditional apology.” He said he was sorry for mentioning Nwabali’s late father, but defended his original critique as genuine “corrections” meant to push Nwabali to be better.

He also doubled down on his criticism of Nwabali’s style:

 That he’s “very rude” to teammates.

 That he plays too much with the ball (“hanky-panky in the field”) instead of staying in goal.

 Lege claimed he only corrected Nwabali because he saw recurring mistakes, and insisted a full apology video was needed.

This clash is about more than just trash talk; it reflects wider frustration across Nigeria following the Super Eagles’ failure to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup after the loss to DR Congo.

For Nwabali, the stakes are deeply personal. Earlier this year, he lost his parents, making any off-pitch reference to his late father all the more sensitive. Now, despite the emotional outburst, the goalkeeper must help Nigeria regroup, with the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations just around the corner.
