Huddersfield, 11 September 2025 – Nigerian-descent striker Oghenetega Freddie Ladapo, 32, has officially parted ways with Huddersfield Town after both parties agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent. The London-born forward, who plays as a centre-forward, is now a free agent.
Ladapo joined the Terriers last September on a two-year deal but struggled to make a telling impact at the John Smith’s Stadium. He managed 25 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring just once, and had not featured at all in the new campaign.
His chances of regular football were further limited following Huddersfield’s summer recruitment drive, which brought in forwards Alfie May, Joe Taylor, Bojan Radulovic and Zépiqueno Redmond.
Head coach Lee Grant praised Ladapo’s professionalism throughout his time at the club, saying: “As a club, we’ve been having honest conversations with Freddie about the likely size of his role here for some time, and this mutual decision is the natural conclusion of those discussions. Remaining professional, committed and training well throughout pre-season and the first month of competitive matches … It’s no secret that we aren’t currently in a position where Freddie would have received the consistent minutes a player of his stature has earned.”
The manager added that the agreement will now give Ladapo the freedom to secure a move where he can enjoy more playing time and rediscover his best form.

With a career that has seen him feature for clubs such as Crystal Palace, Plymouth Argyle, Rotherham United and Ipswich Town, Ladapo’s next move will be keenly watched — especially with interest likely from League One and Championship sides who value his experience and physical presence up front.
